GXS has more than a decade of experience serving the Greater Chinese market and has built a strong presence with offices and native support personnel throughout the region.  GXS’ customer base in China is supported through offices in Shanghai and its Asia-Pacific headquarters and data center, both located in Hong Kong.  All support and implementation for GXS marketed solutions in the region are available in traditional and simplified Chinese.  Enterprise customers in Greater China that have recently selected GXS as their B2B e-commerce solutions provider include Asia Pulp and Paper, Bsteel Online Co. Ltd., China EnterCom, Sai Cheng Logistics International Company Ltd. and Sinotrans Ltd.  Fuzhou Juquan, a supplier to many large enterprise customers around the world, including Ford, TRW, Honda and Yamaha, selected GXS Trading Grid to enable Fuzhou Juquan to conduct a wide range of e-commerce transactions efficiently and easily with a nearly unlimited number of trading partners in the language and standard each partner prefers.

“We came to GXS for the purpose of expanding our e-commerce capabilities and boosting our order processing efficiency, both critical factors for the continued success of our business,” said Roy Hsueh, CIO of Fuzhou Juquan Automobile Fitting Co., Ltd.   “We found that GXS Trading Grid services can be integrated with our internal ERP system and enables us to have real time and accurate data processing.  With GXS, we have reduced order processing time from a few hours to just a few minutes.  We believe this will improve our relationships with our customers and ensure them of our ability to respond to their requests in a timely manner, a competitive advantage among automotive suppliers.”

GXS’ growth and success in China is based on the broad adoption of its Trading Grid platform by more than 40,000 trading partners around the world; its in-depth experience and existing infrastructure in the Chinese marketplace; its best-in-class supply chain management (SCM) solutions; and its successful community ramping service, GXS Community Link.  In addition, GXS has developed strong relationships with the Chinese government Ministry of Information Industries (MII) through its strategic partner ChinaECNet, as well as with GS1 Hong Kong and GS1 Taiwan, the local governing bodies for the adoption of global standards for product data synchronization.

As one of the world’s largest B2B integration service providers, GXS supports the supply chains of 23 of the companies listed in “The AMR Research Supply Chain Top 25 for 2005,” a report which identifies the top 25 manufacturers and retailers that exhibit superior supply chain capabilities and performance.1  GXS serves 75 percent of the Fortune 500 companies as well as 40,000 small and medium-sized businesses throughout the world including in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

Market deregulation in China opened the door for companies like GXS to offer services in the region, and has fostered new growth opportunities.  Following the re-configuration of the Chinese telecom industry and the advent of Internet service providers (ISPs), GXS extended its B2B solutions and services to global manufacturers, freight forwarders/third party logistics providers, and Chinese B2B service providers.  Success in China has triggered standards organizations to look to GXS to provide business and technology insights in support of driving global standards development and adoption in the Chinese market.  GXS is an active participant with globally recognized standards bodies such as the Automotive Industry Action Group, Odette, RosettaNet, EPCglobal and the Open Applications Group.  GXS leverages its relationship with government and standards bodies to accelerate our customer success and increase the adoption of customers’ B2B programs within Greater China.  This significant presence in Greater China is of value to American and European companies that need to support global supply chains, of which companies in Asia are growing participants.

“With industrial growth in China pegged at greater than 10 percent, and nine out of 10 mid-to-large-sized global manufacturers doing business in China today, there is an incredible demand for secure, reliable connectivity, information and process integration,” said Ben Wong, GXS vice president of Asia Pacific operations.  “In North America, Europe and Asia, existing and new customers are turning to GXS to learn about, connect and support supply chain operations into and out of China.  GXS’ knowledge of B2B technology and Chinese business processes enable us to provide superior on-demand supply chain management solutions for businesses of any size and any type.”
