From Mandate to ROI, GXS enhances trading throughout the supply chain
April 26, 2005 — GXS will exhibit alongside partners EPCsolutions, GS1 UK and webMethods at ECR 2005 to demonstrate the proficiency of its B2B e-commerce solutions for retail and CPG supply chains. Notably, GXS and EPCsolutions will host a new live demonstration of an RFID-enabled supply network for the first time in Europe. Delegates can see first hand how significant ROI can be derived by integrating existing data flows and transactions, avoiding extensive business process re-engineering. GXS will also present its key capabilities and offerings, including data synchronisation, product information management and the new range of services available on the GXS Trading Grid®.
Alex Schumacher, director for global retail business at GXS, said: “ECR promises to be a great event. For GXS, it’s an opportunity to demonstrate to retail and CPG companies the many ways that GXS can improve business efficiencies. With our partners GS1, webMethods and EPCsolutions, GXS will demonstrate the value in collaboration for trading communities worldwide.”
GXS & EPCsolutions, GS1 World, Hall PS, Stand 22
GXS, an experienced and proficient operator of 17 local data pools, is a key force in driving the management and deployment of country data pools worldwide. The expansion of the Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN) will bring increased benefits to whole trading communities, enabling partners to trade clean data rapidly and reduce costly inefficiencies in the supply chain by maximising consistency in product information. Traditionally, many businesses look at product catalogue data, tracking and transactional services as distinct entities, without considering the potential efficiencies to be derived from integrating them. EPCsolutions and GXS will demonstrate that the business benefits of data synchronisation and RFID tagging or barcoding only meet their true potential when data is put into a business context that improves supply chain efficiency. By ensuring that product data is as full and as accurate as possible to begin with, the transaction of that data and tracking of product, and the business processes associated with it (purchase orders, delivery notices, billing and reconciliation and so on), becomes vastly more visible and efficient.
GXS & GS1 UK, GS1 World, Hall PS, Stand 22
GXS will exhibit its Country Data Pool Manager solution alongside UK data pool owner GS1 UK and UK data pool partner UDEX. Providing a central access point for all UK subscribers wishing to trade with partners worldwide, the GS1 UK Data Pool is one of the 17 local data pools GXS manages and operates globally. As the Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN) rolls out, GXS will facilitate trading across a global community of GS1 organisations. The UK Data Pool is used by several key retailers, including Tesco and Makro Cash & Carry UK (part of the METRO group in Germany). The UK Data Pool is expected to manage over a quarter of a million registered items and 3,000 suppliers in the very near future.
GXS Main Stand, Hall PS, Stand 17b
GXS, joined by webMethods on its main stand, will present Trading Grid, a real-time platform developed exclusively to enable and streamline cross-enterprise business processes. As one of the world’s largest electronic business communities, serving over 30,000 businesses worldwide, Trading Grid offers unique capabilities that ensure synchronised product and price information, optimise inventory levels and demand forecasts, speed the overall execution of supply chains, and ultimately provide true end-to-end business process visibility. GXS will showcase its leadership in data synchronisation and product information management. webMethods, a strategic partner with GXS, will show its B2B Community Enablement solutions, how to optimise the New Product Introduction Process and EAI and B2B Integration Consolidation solutions which reduce maintenance costs.
